Trip to San Francisco

Just to let everyone know Michelle and I are still alive! It’s been awhile since we’ve posted anything, mainly because we’ve both been really busy. I’ve started on a new project/client in San Francisco and Michelle has been head deep in her books. But we have been able to get in some fun every now and then. Last week I flew Michelle down to San Francisco for the weekend, well technically the company flew her down, and we got to spend some time as tourists. We did the usual things, walked and saw some sights, ate seafood, drank and walked some more. We were even able to catch Benny Benassi at Ruby Skye. The only problem was we were a little, um intoxicated (parents reading, stop here… just kidding haha), so we didn’t manage to stay long enough to actually see him play. That was mainly because we had a nice dinner that night and started fairly early with the cocktails. Well take a look at some of the pictures and you’ll see some of the touristy things we saw. Crazy seals are everywhere, you’ll see…

We hope everyone is doing well and we miss you all and are looking forward to seeing everybody back home over the holidays…

Update: Check out a video of the seals here.

Camping Trip in Tofino BC

A couple weekends ago Michelle and I took a trip to Tofino BC with Kris and Sanjay. It’s on the west coast of Vancouver Island. Needless to say it was quite the trek from Seattle. It was also quite the adventurous weekend with many mishaps. Let’s just say, my front mountain bike tire flew off the roof of my car and rolled across a 5 lane highway in rush hour traffic. The crazy part is someone later brought it back to me undamaged. Then my car doesn’t start as we’re getting on the ferry holding up traffic. Lastly Michelle hurts her arm biking, which took away any chances of her learning to surf that weekend. Even with all the mishaps it was a great weekend. We met some new friends, enjoyed the beaches and of course had a few drinks. :)

Beatport Music Player

Just added a beatport music player to the music section for now.  I’ll post some mixes and stuff when I get around to it :)

Josh the Funky 1 and More Bad Boy Bill @ LSC

A few weeks ago we finally got a chance to see Josh the Funky 1, yup you guest it at Last Supper Club in Seattle. We really need to find another club to go to haha. It’s been 3-4 years since I’ve seen him play and he’s still destroying it on the decks. Check out the pics and videos of Josh throwing it down.

Oh and yup Bad Boy Bill was here again the week before Josh and of course we were there to check it out. This time he put us on his guest list and invited us to an afterhours club he was playing at. More good times and more club pics.

Mt. Biking in North Vancouver and Another Night Out

So a few weekends ago we took yet another trip to Vancouver. We brought along with us our new mountain bikes and went for a nice long ride up in North Vancouver with Phil and Sara. It was a nice ride and being outdoors was definitely called for, the downhill parts were a breeze but going up hill was a problem. Good thing Phil was there pushing us (mainly me) on :). Even though there were bear warning signs everywhere we didn’t have the luck of coming across any. Too bad, cause Phil came prepared with his cougar knife and bear spray haha. Maybe we didn’t see any bears because Phil scared them away with his bear bell stuck to his bike. He sounded like a sleigh ride over Christmas.

After our ride we had some lunch (Pho) and headed home to get ready for our night. We met back up at a local sports bar to catch the UFC fight and then headed over to a penthouse party where they served up Bellini’s all night long. Man those drinks creep up on you. Especially when Michelle keeps pouring more Vodka into your drink. We made some new friends at the party and enjoyed many drinks ha. We seem to be making more friends in Vancouver then in Seattle. Maybe we should spend more time in Seattle since all the people we hang out with here are from Toronto or Ottawa ha. Anyway enjoy the pics.

Now Broadcasting Videos…

avatar3.JPG

So I finally found a video gallery plug-in for the site that works well and does what I want it to. The plug-in pulls videos stored on YouTube and displays them on our blog in the “Videos” page. After some tweaking I got it to work and look the way I want it to. Well for now :) There’s only one problem so far. If you are still using Internet Explorer 6 then the videos page will look a little messed up. Our site looks best using Firefox 2 as your browser.

Right now I only have some videos of DJ’s and the infamous dance off between Chad and Adam. Man, those videos will always make me laugh, I can never stop watching them ha :).

I’ll be taking more videos and posting them soon, so check back often. Just click on “Videos” in the nav bar or go to this link http://www.michelle-and-huy.com/videos/

Cheers…

Updated sidebar…

Just a quick note…

I was able to get the new widgets feature working for this theme under WordPress 2.2. It adds some new features to the sidebar, like the nice random “recent photos” from my flickr photo sets. I’ll be trying to add the videos section soon, stay tuned…

Cheers…

Good Times in Vancouver

I desperately needed a break from homework and assignments so we decided to head up to Vancouver to see some friends. We started our evening at Kris’ place and the rest of the night is a blur, well, for me anyways! Saturday morning was rough but once we were all up and around we went to a pub to catch the Senators beat Buffalo in game 2…GO SENS GO!

Huy’s Birthday up at Whistler

This year we celebrated Huy’s birthday in Whistler village with some friends. What happens in Whistler, stays in Whistler…and that’s about all you need to know about that weekend! You’ll probably notice that there aren’t any pictures of the mountain or of us snowboarding…that’s because Huy, Scott and Jeff were the only ones brave enough to board in the rain.

Weekend up at Mt. Baker

This past weekend Michelle, Sarah, Phil and myself rented a loft/condo up at Mt. Baker for a weekend of riding and enjoying the scenery around the mountain. The weather was amazing and the views up at the mountain were kick ass. Riding at Mt. Baker was a bit challenging since we had to stick to the groomed runs, because of the warm and cold weather a lot of the mountain had an icey layer. But there is a huge base of snow so the riding will last awhile up there. Aside from the scary chairlifts and almost falling off an icey cliff it is an amazing mountain to ride at. It was also Michelle’s second lesson and lets just say it was off to a rough start but near the end she was getting on the scary chair lift and making it down a run other then the bunny hill. She’s getting how to turn now too, so the next lesson is getting some air :)

Snowboarding at Grouse Mountain

A couple weeks ago Michelle and I headed up to Vancouver, once again. This time we were heading up to Grouse Mountain for Michelle’s first snowboarding lesson. After a lot of line ups we finally got in some lesson time on the bunny hill. It was a rough day for her but she was getting more confident at the end. I was able to get in some runs while her and Kris were waiting for their rental gear. Which gave me an opportunity to take some nice pictures of the views, up at Grouse Mountain. It was a fun weekend, we also had time to catch a comedy show at Yuk Yuk’s.

We’re Engaged!

On December 27th, 2006 Huy and I were able to get away and have a romantic night together just by ourselves. After a nice dinner we returned to our room at the Westin which overlooked the Rideau canal and had a beautiful view of the Parliament Buildings and the Christmas lights at Confederation Park. While we were enjoying our view Huy asked me to marry him, and I said YES!

At the moment Huy and I are planning to have the wedding in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada sometime during 2008, after I have graduated from my program. More details to come…

In Ottawa for the Holidays

On December 16th Michelle and I headed back to Ottawa for the holidays. It was some well deserved time off. It was nice to come back and see all our friends and family, even though we didn’t get to see everyone. I was able to get my camera out and snap a few photos during various gatherings and nights out. I was lazy this time and didn’t have the camera out at all the gatherings but some good moments were captured for sure… Click on the photos below to check out our photo albums.

Michelle’s Birthday Continues in Seattle with Bad Boy Bill

It wouldn’t be a birthday party for one of us without seeing Bad Boy Bill. It just so happens that he was in Seattle, at a club called Last Super Club, this past weekend. I’m thinking he knew it was one of our birthday’s, so he made sure to play in the town we were living :). Since we’ve been together we’ve seen him once for my birthday and twice now for Michelle’s birthday. It also wouldn’t have been a party without our crew from Van City joining us. Kris, Ranit and Andrea came down for round two of Michelle’s birthday, this time in Seattle. Bad Boy Bill’s set rocked the house and definitely got us dancing all night. David Garcia opened for him, he really got the place moving and ready for Bad Boy Bill. Good times were definitely had and thanks to Kris, Ranit and Andrea for coming down and partying with us. I think the next party will be Van City for Snoop Dog and Ice Cube, anyone else up for it? Anyways, check out the photos from the night, it seems like everyone likes to stick out their tongue in these photos.

Oh I also took some cool videos, which I will be posting soon. I will be updating the site to add a videos page, so check back soon.
